The EITB headquarters in Bilbao will host the 10th anniversary event of the ‘.eus’ domain on April 15, 2024

Today, April 15, are fulfilled 10 years since the launch of the first ‘.eus’ website so that Basque and the Basque community would have a specific place on the Internet. To commemorate this anniversary, the Puntueu FoundationAn event was held at the EITB headquarters in Bilbao. Oihane Mateos, head of Digital News at EITB Media, has led a colloquium in which 10 people of different ages and fields participated to analyze the trajectory of the ‘.eus’ domain: Iñaki Goirizelaia, Lorea Arakistain, June Ibarloza, Nile Arrizabalaga, Iratxe Esnaola, Josu Waliño Pizarro, Martin Barrutia, Maite Goñi, Xanet and Nacho Amadoz.

Ten years ago, it was also EITB he meeting point selected for activate the 1292 ‘.eus’ domains registered until then, among which were eitb.eus. On December 3, 2014, coinciding with the Basque Daythe Multibox room hosted the presentation of the launch of the initiative, with the presence of more than a hundred representatives of institutions, media, sports clubs, political parties, cultural associations, unions and social groups.

During these ten years the growth of the domain has been continuous and currently ‘.eus’ is the digital expression of almost 15,000 companies, institutions, projects and individuals.
