Google denuncia una versión fraudulenta de Bard que roba las credenciales de redes sociales de sus víctimas

Google has sued a group of individuals for promoting and encouraging downloads of a fraudulent version of its Bard artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot. In reality, this version hides a malicious program designed to steal victims’ social media credentials.

The popularity of generative artificial intelligence tools is increasing, especially the conversational version, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Bard. Cybercriminals also take advantage of this attention.

In this sense, Google has denounced three individuals, located in Vietnam, as the authors of a campaign on social networks, especially on Facebook, which promises to offer a final version of Bardbut what actually hides ‘malware’.

In their advertisements and pages on social networks, scammers have used the Google image to attract users and generate confidence in them to download their version and not the original, despite the fact that the latter is free to access through the dedicated website .

Once victims download the software, they are actually faced with a program that steals their social media profile credentials.
