Judge Santiago Pedraz temporarily suspends the Telegram blocking order

Judge Santiago Pedraz has agreed to request a report on the Telegram Platform from the General Information Commissioner’s Office, before the temporary suspension of the resources associated with Telegram.

The judge of the National Court, Santiago Pedraz, has agreed to temporarily suspend the order to block Telegram, waiting for a report that he has requested from the General Commissioner’s Office.

In an order dated today, March 25, the magistrate requests information about the characteristics of the Telegram platform “as well as the impact that said temporary suspension may have on users.”

Last Friday, Pedraz ordered the Telegram instant messaging application to be provisionally suspended following a complaint filed by Mediaset, Atresmedia and Movistar Plus for alleged unauthorized use of audiovisual content subject to copyright.

On Saturday, the judge gave three hours to the operators so that, upon receipt of their communication, they proceed to suspend the resources associated with the application in the Spanish State.
