July 26 is a holiday day for many and for others, a day marked on the calendar as the most important of the year. We are talking about Samsung and its fans, who today have renewed the high-end of their mobile phones, tablets and watches. Don’t lose sight of the news because they are going to set a trend this year and are strong candidates if you have to change your mobile phone or are looking for a gift for a loved one in the coming months.

For a couple of years now, the Korean firm has been dedicating its summer launch to foldable phones, specifically two models: the Galaxy Fold 5 and Galaxy Flip 5, or in other words, a foldable that opens and closes like a book and the second, which opens and closes like a shell.

Samsung Galaxy Fold 5

We start with its most ambitious model, the Fold 5. The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 is the company’s most complete foldable and the consolidation of the range with the thinnest and lightest design in the history of the Fold.

Like its predecessors, we have the latest in components such as its own variant of the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a triple camera of up to 50 megapixels and an excellent Dynamic AMOLED interior screen that this year has increased its brightness by 30%.

It cannot be said that this Z Fold5 has a very different design from previous generations, but when we open it we have a much thinner device. This is thanks to the inclusion of the new Flex hinge with a double-rail structure that diffuses external impacts and where Samsung explains that it has allowed them to design a more solid and balanced product.

For this year, a new S Pen Fold Edition is incorporated, also thinner (4.35 mm) and compact in line with the leap in this section at a general level.

Under the hood, the best of the best on the market: Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, 12 GB of RAM and storage configurations ranging from 256 GB to 1 TB. For the battery we repeat with 4,400 mAh, the same amount as previous years despite the reduction in weight and thickness. We have 25W charging with an adapter sold separately, wireless charging and WPC Qi reversible charging.

So that we understand each other, we have a mobile phone that when deployed has a screen of almost 25 cm diagonal (7.6 inches) and of high quality, the best hardware on the market and a stylus, so in practice, it is practically like have a powerful tablet.

But beyond the quality of the panel itself, the Z Fold has traditionally stood out for its software that allows you to take advantage of these features. In this version the writing experience with the S Pen Fold has been improved; A new and improved taskbar with quick access is offered. As Samsung explains, you can now have up to four recent applications at hand and we have a new drag and drop function with both hands.

The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold5 will be available in blue, black and cream. Starting today it is available for pre-order and will reach the public starting August 11. Starting price? 1909 euros, an outrageous amount intended for people who love technology who want the latest, put a lot of effort into their phone and use it to work.

It is clear that it is not a phone for everyone, but it does try to continue democratizing this different format.

Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5

And if the previous one is Samsung’s beast, this is probably the foldable called to be the best-selling next year. The motives? A more interesting quality-price ratio for the average user and the format. And although there are those who would like to have a telephone-sized phone that folds out to almost have a tablet, many other people prefer a phone that takes up half of its size when we are not using it and that, when unfolded, has the standard size. Or what is the same, it fits in any pocket.

Although folded it occupies half, in that position it stands out for having a secondary screen that grows to 3.4 inches and although its 720 x 748 resolution is not one of the highest in the segment, it is used to invoke widgets, receive notifications and be able to interact in a deeper way with the phone, since it can finally run full applications.

At launch, there are deals with Google Maps, Google Messages, Samsung Messages, Netflix, WhatsApp and YouTube. There are not too many applications, but they are some of the most important today. We can use them completely from the secondary panel, to minimize the openings of the phone.

Except for the secondary panel, the design of the phone is quite similar to what we saw last year. There have been important changes to the hinge: it now promises to be much more resistant.

Internally, the big change is the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, the American giant’s best processor so far. The base memory also increases, now being 8 + 256 GB. It is repeated with the small 3,700mAh battery and 25W charging. For me the weak point is in the camera, and that at a photographic level there have not been too many changes, since it is a phone that remains with only two cameras: the main 12 megapixel one and a 12 megapixel ultra wide angle, a bit stingy considering that it is a high-end product and its price.

Because the new Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 has a base price that starts at 1,209 euros, but as always when we talk about an Android phone, I invite you to wait a couple of months to enjoy attractive discounts.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 and Watch 6 Classic

If you ask me about the most interesting product in Samsung’s presentation, I would say without a doubt the watches. Everything else is good, but their smartwatches are the best on the market, especially if you wait a few weeks for the first offers.

Samsung watches already had a good design and have practically maintained it, although with some important new features, a big change such as that the screen is now 20% larger, something that allows us, among other things, to show more text and the keyboard. on screen can be used in a more accessible way.

That screen is also brighter and higher resolution: it is capable of reaching 2,000 nits of brightness, and the brightness adjustment function of the always-on display technology. The Galaxy Watch6’s bezel is 30% thinner, allowing it to maintain a compact design even though the screen has increased in size.

The straps are also renewed to adopt a mechanism that allows them to be adjusted with a single click. The new larger screen design means that we also have somewhat larger batteries, and thanks to the new processor, somewhat more efficient and up to 18% more powerful, we can enjoy a remarkable autonomy that according to the manufacturer is up to 40 hours.

Smart watches are the best devices for health and these Watch 6 have upped the ante. For starters, in-depth analysis of sleep scoring factors—total sleep time, sleep cycle, awake time, and physical and mental recovery—allows users to better understand the quality of their sleep.

In the field of fitness we have Body Composition analysis, which among other things allows us to monitor basal metabolic rate, body water and body fat percentage, ideal for those looking to be fitter.

There is also a new personalized heart rate function that analyzes individual physical abilities and defines five optimal levels of running intensity to help users set their own goals based on their ability.

Alerts are another element that is reinforced. In addition to blood pressure monitoring and the electrocardiogram, we have a heart rate alert to avoid scares. It also has menstrual tracking and fall detection.

As for prices, smartwatches are still a sweet treat, especially if we compare them with the Apple Watch competition. Thus, they are available from 319 euros.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9, Galaxy Tab S9+ and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra

We finish with three cucumbers of tablets for those who need maximum lightness but power and a magnificent screen to view content. Of course, I can tell you that they cost much more than a normal laptop.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 maintains the design lines seen in the previous generation, since we have a simple back, with a single camera and the hole in which the S-Pen, included in the box, will rest.

Something worth highlighting and that is new is that they are the company’s first tablets to incorporate IP68 resistance, an interesting addition for using them outdoors, and even more so now in summer. They are also large tables ranging from 11 inches to 14.6 inches, but quite narrow and light, since they weigh at most half a kilo.

Having a larger size translates into two things: more screen and more battery. However, there is one point to keep in mind, and that is that the Tab S9 and S9+ models now mount Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels at 120 Hz. And to round off the multimedia section, it is worth noting that the quad AKG speakers are now 20% more large and compatible with Dolby Atmos.

Under the hood we find 8, 12 or up to 16GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage expandable with microSD cards, as well as a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy processor.

There are also differences in the camera. The Galaxy Tab S9 has a single 13-megapixel rear camera, while the Plus and Ultra have a 13-megapixel sensor and another eight. However, while these first two have a 12 megapixel front camera, the Tab S9 Ultra has a dual 12+12 megapixel front camera,

The operating system has some functions focused on taking advantage of the format, such as Multi Window (three apps at the same time), Pop-up View (to put apps in windows), Dex mode for tablets and Second Screen, which allows you to turn the tablet into an external monitor.

And we end with the prices, which are basically 899 euros, 1,119 euros and 1.1339 euros, a bit high if you ask me, because although they are powerful and have a screen capable of rivaling a computer, in the end there are programs that do not You can use it on a tablet and for me, that is a burden. So don’t lose sight of the previous generation models, because for a little less money I do think they are quite interesting.
